For my entire life I have always been intrigued, involved, and drawn to art. During my high school years I made the decision to choose art as my path in life, and applied to art school. After 4 years at Montserrat College of Art, I found myself more in love with art than ever; but also found myself needing a job and a way to pay the bills.

After College I found myself working in a number of non arts related jobs, but always trying to find a way to incorporate the arts into my work. Now 8 years after the completion of art school, 3 jobs later, the owner of a graphic design & media firm, the father of 2 children, I have given myself a challenge.

The Portrait Project was born on July 12, 2010 to help me have a reason to return to art, to keep me accountable, and to keep me creating.

The mission is to create 1 portrait a day for an entire year.

The portraits will all be done in pencil, and drawn from photographs. The subjects will range from family, friends, strangers, and you. That's right, if you send me a picture of you, or someone you know, it may end up being a part of The Portrait Project.

So without any further delay, I give you the beginning of the next year of my life.

My Best,

Jason

have you been putting up portraits literally every day this year?

I was…things have slowed down as of late, but I plan to get back at it soon.  The project got a little to big for everything in my life, but I have far from abandoned it.

Drawing other artists, especially ones who are responsible for putting permanent art on my body is fun, but more than a little intimidating.

you are an amazing artist. it is incredible what you are doing. where did you study art??? keep it up! :D

Thank you so much!!! What a nice thing for you to say!

I attended Lyme Academy of Fine Art while I was in CT, and did my undergrad work at Montserrat College of Art.

I will do my best to keep the project going, and to continue to share my work with everyone.

Thanks again,

Jason
